How to Style a Beautiful and Simple Fall Tablescape

Fall is here! Crisp autumn air…Changing leaves…Shorter days…AND cozy nights by the fire and fire pit…Count me in! It’s the perfect time to gather friends and family around your table to share a meal. Here is a step by step guide to create a beautiful fall tablescape.

Fall Tablescape Items Needed

–Buffalo Check Tablecloth. This pretty fall table starts with a buffalo check tablecloth made with fabric from Ballard Designs. Athough they don’t have the exacr fabric, here is a link to another tan and cream check tablecloth that would look great for fall.

–Woodland Spode Plates. Probably 10 or 12 years ago I started asking for these plates fro Christmas. I just love them. You can get salad plates and serving pieces with every kind of hunting dog or even things you would hunt. Ha! Think turkeys, rabbits, deer…They look beautiful with cream, pink, orange, green, blue…I could go on and on.

–Woven Chargers. I have had these woven chargers for years and they still look good as new. They are a little bit of an investment, but you will use them a bunch.

-Silverware and Glasses. Use whatever you have! Most people have clear drinking glasses and they look great with this table. If you want to add some fun tortoise glasses, here are some they I have and love.

-Candlesticks and Candles. Again, My guess is you already have some. I have found some really pretty candlesticks at Goodwill and Thrift stores!!

-Flowers. A lot of times grocery stores have bouquets already put together that are perfect for fall. I picked a more neutral look using different shades of white and green. It was so easy to put together and looks great on the table. If you want to see this and other easy hydrangea arrangements, I wrote a blog post and included 5 different ideas on using hydrangeas!

–Pumpkins. I found some gorgeous velvet pumpkins on Amazon. They are so pretty and so much less expensive than other retailers.

Fall Tablescape Steps

If you have an old antique table like me, you’ll want to cover it with a felt pad before putting on your tablecloth. It protects the table from heat and spills. They are very inexpensive and can be found in just about every shape and size.

After you put on your pad, cover your table with your tablecloth and then put down your chargers and plates.

Next you’ll put your napkins and silverware out. I love napkins and think they add so much warmth to a table. Here are a bunch of my favorites.

Then you’ll decide on what you want along the center of your table. On my table, I wove eucalyptus throughout some thrifted brass candlesticks and gold votives. I feel like the eucalyptus adds a softness and touch of green that completes the table. Then I used my fun velvet pumpkins. Here’s a link to my favorite pumpkins!

Update!

After I wrote this post I received the prettiest green and cream paper placemats from Lucy Grymes in the mail.

I immediately knew I wanted to switch out the rattan chargers for the placemats. Here’s what it looked like after the switch :)
