Stunning Tartan Plaid Christmas Table

This traditional tartan plaid Christmas table uses a tablecloth from Amazon, colorful shatterproof ornaments, beautifully monogrammed napkins and lots of my beloved blue and white!

One day in early November I Googled tartan plaid tablecloths and found these amazing options from Amazon. They are made by Cotton Craft and are really good quality. In fact, I liked the tablecloth so much that I ordered another one for our breakfast room and 16 napkins!!

Design Planning

Before I put together a new tablescape, I take notes in my phone of what I want to include. I really love the look of tartan plaid and blue and white, so I knew I wanted to use my Spode Blue Italian. A friend from our church in Texas monogrammed some beautiful napkins for me that I wanted to include as well. Sarah has so many pretty designs to choose from so it’s hard to pick just one! I used my silver for some sparkle and included a bunch of ornaments as well. I bought some stemless monogrammed wine glasses for Scott years ago and think they look great on the table! I love my new green chargers from Michael’s and knew I wanted to use those as well!

Setting the Table

1. I always start with a felt back table pad under any tablecloth to protect it from heat and liquid stains. Our dining room table is mahogany and belonged to my parents, so I want to take good care of it!
2. Then I iron the tablecloth if needed and put it on the table.
3. Next I put the chargers (if I’m using them) and plates in their places
4. I placed the napkins in the center of the plates to save space and to display the beautiful monogram
5. Glasses come next. For this setting I used cobalt blue water glasses as well as stemless wine glasses
6. I used our silver we received as wedding gifts and love the sparkle it provides!
7. Next comes the embellishments. I used 2 sets of matching blue and white jars and a bunch of colorful ornaments. I also included a pair of Santa figurines that are so happy.
8. Last, but not least, comes the gorgeous floral arrangement. I used a large Italian glass vase and fill it to the brim with white and green hydrangeas, white spray roses, green balls, St. John’s Wort and red ranunculus. I did a step by step of a smaller version of this arrangement here.

The Perfect Traditional Tartan Plaid Christmas Table

As so many people are turning to less traditional Christmas decor, I love the traditional red and green found in this beautiful table! It ended up being such a happy and fun table with the elegance of silver and the playfulness of Christmas ornaments scattered throughout. Using my blue and white dishes and jars made it even more special.
