Citrus Summer Table

If you want a table to feel happy and vibrant, just add citrus! This bright and colorful citrus table is one of my favorites for spring and summer gatherings because it’s cheerful, welcoming, and so easy to recreate. By incorporating lemons, limes, and oranges into both the centerpiece and table styling, you get that “happy table” feeling that makes guests feel right at home the moment they sit down.
Whether you’re hosting a casual ladies’ lunch or a relaxed family dinner, this table is a perfect example of how simple elements can create something truly beautiful.

The star of this table is the colorful floral arrangement filled with fresh citrus fruits. I love combining flowers with fruit—it adds texture, color, and an unexpected element to the table. At Christmastime I use pomegranates and red apples as well as oranges with magnolia. For patriotic tables, I add a bowl of strawberries and/or blueberries!
We hosted one of our daughter’s friends over a long weekend, and her family sent this arrangement, minus the citrus. I loved it as is, but had already planned on putting together a table showcasing the placemats with the fun napkins and citrus fruits. I thought, why not put some lemons on bamboo skewers and add them to the already beautiful flowers!? The citrus not only adds pops of yellow, green, and orange, but it also makes the table extra fun and happy!
This is a great centerpiece idea because it’s budget-friendly, looks fabulous, and is really easy to re-create. It works for everything from summer entertaining to casual brunches. If you’re looking for an easy floral idea, this citrus centerpiece is a winner.
Layered Place Settings

Each place setting is layered to feel casual but still special. I used my Hester & Cook bamboo placemats, which I laminated so they’ll last for years. This is such a simple trick that makes them incredibly practical for everyday use and entertaining alike. The placemats also come in blue/white and bamboo/white!
On top of that, I styled my Mikasa French Countryside plates. These are some of my most-used dishes because they are timeless, sturdy and versatile. They are perfect for both casual and elevated tables, and easy to mix with seasonal pieces.
The soft off-white of the plates allows the brighter elements, like the citrus and greenery, to really shine.
Mix-and-Match Block Print Napkins for a Playful Touch
To add a little personality and charm, I used mix-and-match block print napkins at each setting. This is a fun styling trick because it instantly makes the table feel collected and curated rather than overly matched. I ended up ordering 2 sets of the napkins because there were a few I really liked and I wanted to duplicate. Each napkin brings in a different pattern and color, which pairs so beautifully with the citrus theme and green lattice-style placemats. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns—just keep a cohesive color palette and add a natural element like greenery to tie everything together. Each plate is topped with a simple boxwood wreath. I’ve had these wreaths for years and they still look great. I love how the wreaths add texture and another layer of depth to the table. The wreaths are so fun because they are super versatile. They look great at Christmastime tied with a bow on the back of chairs. I also love using a ribbon to tie a simple place card and set it at each guest’s seat.
