Elegant Blue and Green Tablescape

This colorful and elegant blue and green tablescape is so pretty and inviting.  I loved putting it together! Here’s step-by-step instructions to create your own.

Tablescape Planning

I knew I wanted to do a really pretty Christmas table that included non-traditional bright blue, green and pink. When I saw these beautiful pink peonies I knew exactly what I wanted to create!! The beauty of this table is that with the addition of little Christmas trees, it’s a perfectly fun Christmas table! Take the trees away and it’s beautiful all year long.

Colorful Tablescape Design Steps

I’ve had this green check tablecloth from Amazon for a while now and I have used it a bunch! It works really well year-round.  I’ve used it at Christmastime but also in the spring and summer.  One of the things I love about it is that you can throw it in the dryer and almost all of the wrinkles come out. Because I’m particular, I did iron it, but it took less than 10 minutes start to finish. 

Before I put on the tablecloth, I used a felt table pad to protect my mahogany table. I have bought many of these felt table protectors over the years. They work great if you have marble countertops and want to protect them from acidic foods or wine when you’re having a party. In our old home I would always cover my island with one and then throw a tablecloth on top. Pineapple juice, citrus and red wine do not go well with white marble!!

I love Spode Blue Italian. It is what we use every day at our house, and I think it translates really well to a formal table, too. For this table I layered green chargers from Michael’s with Spode Blue Italian dinner plates on top. If you know me, you know I love a good monogram! I used some pretty bright white linen napkins with a traditional cobalt blue circle monogram. I pulled out my burgundy silver And silver candlesticks we received as a wedding gift 25 years ago. So happy!

I bought cobalt blue water and wine glasses years ago and have used them a bunch. They are great for every day and look fantastic on a more formal table as well. I mixed crystal water goblets with the blue wine glasses for an unexpected pop of color.

Beautiful Centerpiece

This centerpiece is one of my favorites so far! I love color and really enjoyed putting all the pretty colors together. I started with some greenery then I added one large blue hydrangea in the center. I used pink peonies next, and then added red tulips.  I tucked in a bunch of white ranunculus, and then finished it off with red spray roses.  It turned out so beautiful! I set the flower arrangement on a polished silver tray and decided to do two smaller arrangements next to it. Down the center of the table I added a few bottle brush Christmas trees for extra color.
