When it comes to summer entertaining, you can’t go wrong with a classic red, white, and blue patriotic table. Some of our family’s favorite memories include having our small group from church over for the 4th of July. We always had so much fun swimming, eating great food and being together. Even when my girls were little I enjoyed setting fun patriotic tables. Cute paper placemats and easy care plates and linens make it a snap to clean up after the party is over. I shared 3 different Patriotic Tables last year, so this year I wanted to do something a little different with the same theme. This festive table is perfect for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, or any warm-weather get-together. Here’s how to recreate it!

I’ve mentioned my love of paper placemats before, so it won’t surprise you that I was so excited to get these pretty blue and white Ikat placemats from Lucy Grymes in the mail. Lucy is an artist and paints all of her designs, then mass produces them so we can enjoy them! She has napkins and wine bags in the same pattern that are so fun. The placemats are perfect for this patriotic table, but can also be used year round. I’ve used my blue and white check and green and white check tablecloths more times than I can count, (you can find some of my other tablescapes here) so for this table I went with a red and white check tablecloth. It instantly brightened up the table and really makes the placemats and plate stack pop. The blue and white striped napkins tied with bright red ribbon add the perfect finishing touch to each place setting.

For the plates, I kept things super fun mixing red melamine dinner plates I’ve had for years with some other patriotic salad plates from Tuesday Morning (RIP!) and Spode Blue Italian bread plates. Here are some red melamine dinner plates and patriotic salad plates that would work great. Don’t be afraid to mix several different patterns on your table. It makes things more interesting and your table more exciting. A rule of thumb is to keep the pattern sizes different so your table doesn’t look too messy or overstimulating. I used my classic flatware and added fun personalized Styrofoam cups from Two Funny Girls. They’re always a hit and make even the most casual table feel special.
Patriotic Florals
The centerpiece was so easy to put together. I filled a clear tall vase with 3 white and 3 blue hydrangeas, then added 4 red Gerber daisies for a pop of color. Two small American Flags added on either side of the flowers really brought the patriotic table theme home. As I’ve shared before, flower arranging doesn’t have to be overwhelming! You can pick 2-3 different flowers from your local grocery store and create something really pretty! Two small blue and white bud vases each held a single red daisy and a few sprigs of St. John’s Wort for a colorful touch. To round out the table, I placed two blue and white bowls filled with strawberries and blueberries—they’re as pretty as they are delicious and perfect for any patriotic holiday.
