Mexican Themed Party

If you’re hosting a Cinco de Mayo or a Mexican themed party, this vibrant and cheerful tablescape is the perfect inspiration. I set this table because it was almost Cinco-De-Mayo and I knew I was making my easy chicken enchiladas and black beans for dinner. We had some friends over and I have to share a funny story. Everyone sat down at the table and one of our friends asked me, “Do you have a favorite holiday or theme you love most when creating tables?” Scott quickly quipped, “Arbor Day is her favorite!” Ha! He keeps me laughing after 26 years together!! In case you are wondering, I’ve never created a “Arbor Day” tablescape!!

I pulled together some of my favorite pieces for a look that’s colorful, festive, and easy. The centerpiece- complete with mini bell peppers- is so fun and took only a few minutes to create. Let me show you how I put everything together!

The Mexican Theme Tablescape

I started with my favorite easy-care blue and white check tablecloth—it’s classic, bold, and always makes a statement. I layered dark brown woven chargers for warmth and texture, then added my white Pottery Barn caterer plates on top. The plates are such a fantastic price and still look new after 3 years of wear. For an extra pop of color, I used green cloth napkins from Amazon and topped each place setting with a mini sombrero hat—such a fun nod to the Mexican party theme!

Cobalt blue wine and water glasses brought in my favorite color and tied in beautifully with the tablecloth. The combination of these vibrant tones creates an inviting setting that’s full of personality and perfect for a Mexican themed party.

Center of the Table: Fiesta Details

For the center of the table, I wanted a mix of playful and natural elements. I placed two blue lanterns down the center that I bought years ago at Ikea. Around them, I scattered a mix of mini and full-size bell peppers in red, yellow, orange, and green, plus some limes for an extra pop of green. They add such a fresh, organic touch and echo the bold palette of a Mexican fiesta tablescape.

I tucked in two small flower arrangements featuring bright blooms like gerber daisies, daisies, and mums. Their colors mirrored the peppers and added to the tablescape.

Mexican Floral Centerpiece

My favorite part of the table is the large floral centerpiece. I used seven big sunflowers as the focal point—there’s something about sunflowers that just feels happy to me. I surrounded them with purple statice for texture and contrast, then tucked in seven mini peppers on bamboo skewers to tie it all together. It’s a centerpiece that’s both playful and pretty—perfect for any Mexican party theme.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard taco night, a wedding shower or just having friends over for dinner, this Mexican themed table brings together classic pieces, festive details, and bright colors for a look that’s sure to make your guests smile. In case you want to see a similar table from last year, here’s a link to my Cinco De Mayo table from 2024 where I used the green and white check version of the same tablecloth.

Grateful for you,

Julie
