Easy DIY Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece

While I’m writing this post I’m looking outside my kitchen window at the most gorgeous fall colors I think I’ve ever seen! Last year we had snow by this point in the season, so it’s been such a delight to see the red, orange and yellow leaves everywhere I look. The crisp air and autumn colors make it the perfect time to create fall centerpieces, tablescapes and crafts! This stunning- yet easy- pumpkin floral centerpiece combines a simple white pumpkin with vibrant flowers that make me smile. Here’s an easy step by step guide to creating your own!

Pumpkin Centerpiece Supplies Needed

The beauty of this centerpiece is that you can pick whatever size and color pumpkin you want, and whatever flowers suit your fancy.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Wet Floral Foam. I always have some wet floral foam on hand and you can find it most places. Here’s a link to the one I use most often.
• Real or faux pumpkin. I used a real pumpkin for my arrangement. You need a pumpkin with a stem to secure the floral foam.
• Plate or tray to place the arrangement on so you don’t make a mess. The water from the floral foam will sometimes spill, so I like to put my pumpkin on a plate to keep from making a mess!
• Greenery. I used eucalyptus and other greenery from the grocery store. You can always cut greens from your yard, just make sure you wash them first so you don’t bring unwanted bugs and critters inside!
• Flowers. I used fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s- my favorite, but you can use a mix of fresh and faux if you’d like. I already planned the tablescape where the arrangement would go, so I knew I wanted pinks, oranges and corals for my arrangement. I used 3 bunches of flowers (light coral/pink roses, orange spray roses and tulips) and one bunch of St. John’s Wort.
• Tiny pumpkins. I found the cutest little white pumpkins at The Dollar Store and knew they would be perfect for the arrangement.
• Gold Pinecones. I have already used these gold pinecones so many times and it’s not even Thanksgiving! I love them.

How to Make a Pumpkin Floral Centerpiece

Making the centerpiece is so easy. Here are the step by step instructions:

• Cut your wet floral foam in the desired size and shape you want.
• Fill a container with water and put your floral foam on top. When it sinks it’s ready to use.
• Take out the foam and let a little bit of the water drip off.
• Put your pumpkin on your waterproof plate or tray, and put the floral foam on top of the stem, making sure it is secure.
• Add your eucalyptus/greenery around the bottom of the foam.
• Next add your biggest flowers. I used light pink roses first.
• Orange spray roses go in next. They filled up a lot of space and look so pretty!
• Tulips were the last flower to be added.
• I put the white mini pumpkins on long wooden skewers and added them next.
• The gold pinecones are so fun and can be used in so many ways! I tucked those in and love the little bit of sparkle they add to the arrangement!
• St. John’s Wort is a favorite of mine. It’s so versatile and I use it in many of my arrangements. I used one bunch and filed in the gaps with leftover greenery.

How to Use and Care for your Pumpkins Centerpiece

I used the centerpiece on a fun table I put together using a beautiful rust check tablecloth and a mix of Spode Delamere dishes and some I found for a steal at an auction. When I was finished with that table, I put the arrangement on our dining room table for us to enjoy. You’ll need to add a little bit of water each day to keep your arrangement looking it ‘s best.
