Why Southern Mountain Girl?

Great question!! Short answer is I am a true southern girl who loves timeless southern style … blue and white china, pretty flowers and tablescapes, monogrammed anything, entertaining, baking…

And…

I recently moved to the mountains!!

Long story is, I’ve thought for a while about what I might want to do in this next phase in life. I have loved being a mom to my girls. Volunteering has brought me so much joy! But I’m an empty nester now…and I’m ready for a new adventure.

People say when you’re trying to figure out what you should do next, think about what people say you are good at. And what do you really enjoy doing- What sparks joy in you ??

How would a friend describe your talents, gifting, etc. ?

In cleaning out for the move I read over lots of letters I’ve received through the years.

(Side note- hand written letters are a lost art!! If you need some pretty notecards, my sweet friend, Erin, can make you some!

People would tell me things like- I love being in your home. It’s so warm and welcoming.

Or- the lunch you hosted was so fun and your table was so pretty.

Or I love the way you grouped that vignette on your entry table.

So why not share these things I love with others!! Why not encourage others to invite people into their home, to make an easy meal, to bake those yummy brownies, to arrange some grocery store flowers?

I met with a few wise and kind women I know who have blogged for a while and they both encouraged me to go for it. You never know unless you try, right!?

I don’t really know what I’m doing.

I’m technologically challenged.
I’m not a photographer. But I’m learning all about Lightroom and photo sizes and more!
I’m learning that setting up a blog and website is really fun but also really time consuming!

I feel like God put a little desire in my heart and I’m going to see what’s next. I’m excited to use my brain in new ways…and to hopefully inspire others to set some pretty tables and invite friends and family into their homes!
