7 Tips for Shopping at HomeGoods

I love HomeGoods because the prices are excellent, the inventory is always new, and you can find seasonal items at less than half the price of regular stores. Here are 7 tips on how to shop smart at HomeGoods..

We live about 2 football fields away from a HomeGoods.

Like I can- and have- walked there.

There are so many things to love about HomeGoods but my favorite is that it always a “new” store. Their inventory is always changing!!

Periodically I’ll go to Homegoods and report back on the great deals and steals I find!

DON’T GO ON THE WEEKEND! Exhibit A

This was in August. In Texas. During the weekend that every. Single. Kid at UT. Moves into his/her dorm. AND we went to Homegoods! It was 106 degrees outside. And there were 33 people in the check out line!! We were obviously desperate and desperate times call for desperate measures. YIKES is all I can say. If you can go during the week, go during the week!

2. Go in with an idea of what you’re looking for and a budget. There are so many deals. So many great buys. So many pretty things, that if you’re not careful you’ll end up buying things that you don’t need.

3. On the other hand, if you are on the fence about whether or not to buy something, buy it because if you wait it will most likely be gone. You can take it home and decide if you really want it. You can return it with a receipt and get your money back if you do so within 30 days.

4. Look for red tags that let you know its on clearance. These are the real bargains at HG!

5. Shop for mirrors and art at HG. They have so many pretty mirrors in all sizes and are very reasonably priced. They have all kinds of art, even some that are prints but have handpainted embellishments on them to make them look like original art pieces.

6. Shop for rug pads and rugs at HG. Since we recently moved, I bought all new rug pads. I originally bought some at Lowe’s, but ended up returning them because the ones at HG were 35% less expensive. Homegoods has a lot of different rug options. I bought some really cutes ones for our primary bathroom that were only $15.99 each!

7. Pictures frames are a must buy at Homegoods! I really wanted to do a gallery wall in our basement but all of the Burl Wood frames I loved were at least $100 each. I ended up buying beautiful gold frames that came in sets of 3 for $29.99! Look how amazing the gallery wall looks! Woo hoo- I am so pleased. What I spent on 9 frames ended up being the same amount I would have spent on 1!! I also bought some other frames to go in cabinets and on desks that ranged from $5.99-9.99. In case you are up for a little pricer frame that is still reasonable, these bamboo frames are some of my favorites. All great quality and at a great price!
