50th Birthday Table with Indian Tree China

Indian Tree China is a classic, timeless pattern that makes any tablescape beautiful! I have always loved china. So, when my parents downsized recently, my dad asked if I would like his mother’s Spode Indian Tree China. That was an easy Yes!!! I love it not only because it’s beautiful, but more importantly, it’s my Dad’s favorite and I love my Dad so much! Whenever I use it I think of him. When my husband decided to ask a bunch of Texas friends to Colorado for his 50th birthday, (So. Much. Fun!) I knew I wanted to use this special china for his birthday dinner! Here’s how I set the table.

Table Linens

Before adding linens, I think it’s a good idea to cover your table with a felt table pad. It protects the table from heat, spills and scratches. I used an off white linen tablecloth that was the perfect neutral backdrop for the pretty plates. The navy blue napkins from Amazon were embroidered by a sweet friend from our church in Texas, Sarah. Check out her instagram if you want to see her other fabulous things! Sarah perfectly matched the burnt orange to the Indian Tree China!! I LOVE the monogram!! Using my dad’s favorite plates and pretty navy blue chargers made for the perfect masculine table for my husband’s 50th birthday. When I first set the table I used our Reed and Barton Burgundy silver. It really shines against the ivory tablecloth. However, after setting the table, Scott asked for “fancy” burgers and sides for his birthday dinner…so the more formal look just wouldn’t do. I switched out the silver with some fun bamboo stainless and it looked perfect for our casual dinner.

For the more formal table, I did an easy arrangement with hydrangeas and roses. I just bought one bunch of 3 white hydrangeas, one bunch of fern leaves and one dozen orange roses. I used a beautiful vase I picked up at a local antique mall.

To make the arrangement, I first put the hydrangeas in the vase, added the roses and finished with the fern. So easy! When we switched to a casual dinner, I opted for burnt orange and white flowers. I found some at Trader Joe’s and I used more casual vases to hold them.

The table looked great, and it took less than 30 minutes to set it and make it pretty. In case you are looking for other pretty table setting ideas, here’s a link to some of my favorites!

The Spode Indian Tree China was beautiful, but the best part of the night was the people around the table…laughing, talking and sharing life.
