Blue and White Summer Tablescape

There’s something so special about setting a table that feels both fresh and timeless. I can appreciate all styles of decor, but bright colors mixed with blue and white is just about perfect to me!
Last week I hosted my neighborhood book club and set this fun table. I combined a burst of bright and happy florals with my favorite classic blue and white pieces, and the result is one of my favorite tablescapes yet.
The flower arrangement added a fun pop of color and texture while the linens and china kept the overall look traditional and timeless. Here’s a closer look at all the details!
Flower Arrangement Details

This arrangement was so much fun to create and is one of my top 5 favorites! I used yellow and orange spray roses, hot pink garden roses, and peony tulips to build a lush, vibrant base. I tucked in clusters of St. John’s wort (also known as hypericum berries) for a soft blush of pink and added whimsical yellow billy balls and bright green dianthus to finish it off with texture and fill in the open spaces.
The flowers are arranged in a blue and white Spode Blue Italian footed serving bowl, which gives the whole centerpiece an elevated, traditional feel. It’s funny because even though I love my Spode soup tureen, it’s been used for flower arrangements and to hold potted plants more then it has for the actual reason it was made!! Ha! When I saw the blue and white bud vases, I knew I wanted to add them to the center of the table with a simple peony tulip in each vase.
Blue and White Table Linens

To balance the bright florals, I started with a blue and white buffalo check tablecloth. Y’all have seen me use this tablecloth many times because it is just so great and I love creating blue and white tablescapes! It’s easy to care for, needs little to no ironing, and is a fabulous price point. I have the green and white option as well. The classic pattern is fun, yet doesn’t take away from the pretty flowers. Each place setting has a natural woven placemat that adds texture, warmth and makes the table a little more casual.
On top of each plate, I used white linen napkins with bright floral embroidery and monogrammed initial. I was literally giddy with excitement when I picked up the napkins from the embroidery place. You’ve heard me say it before- I think monogrammed linens add so much personality to a table. This pink and blue spring table used the same monogram style on light blue linen napkins and is another favorite! You can use a simple 3 letter monogram like I did on this blue and white table, and this anniversary table. Those napkins, with just one thread color, are super versatile. It’s the little details like these that make a table feel special and personal. The napkin rings were a wedding gift from my Mother-in-law and I still love them so much!! They echo the blue and white theme, tying everything together beautifully.

I registered for my Spode Blue Italian china 27 years ago, and to this day it is still my absolute favorite. The timeless blue and white pattern never goes out of style—it’s elegant, versatile, and works just as well for a casual lunch ( like this one!) as it does for a formal dinner.
Not only is it beautiful, it’s also incredibly practical. It’s durable, easy to care for, and dishwasher safe—everything you want in something you use often. You can find Spode Blue Italian at local boutiques, department stores, and of course, on Amazon. A darling finishing touch for the table was the blue and white Staffordshire dog salt &pepper shakers. They are so cute, functional and also make a great gift!
Blue and White Tablescape Thoughts
Setting a beautiful table for friends and family doesn’t have to be complicated! Starting with a patterned tablecloth, adding some woven chargers and then plates and napkins of your choice is all it takes!
