My Fall and Winter Wardrobe Essentials

I have always been a southern girl at heart. Pretty dresses, feminine cuts, and classic clothing have been my go to for as long as I can remember. Funny story, when I was 5, my mom asked me if I wanted to play soccer…My response? “Only if they have soccer skirts!” Haha!!! I love shopping…but I’m really trying to buy things that I know are great quality and will last for years to come. With that I mind, J.Crew and Tuckernuck are two of my favorite places to shop. Here are six of my favorite fall and winter wardrobe essentials from J.Crew and Tuckernuck that I am wearing again and again.

Navy and White Striped Callahan Dress

I have seen this Callahan dress for a while now and I’m so glad I bought it because I have worn it too many times to count! It has definitely become an essential in my closet! I love how comfortable and classic this dress is. At the same time it is feminine and flattering! If you are in between sizes, I would size down in the dress. I love wearing a scarf with it. It looks super cute with sneakers or flats.

Essential Chloe Dress

This is another dress I have loved forever.  To me it is everything you want in a dress.  Classic.  Timeless.  Feminine.  Flattering.  Belted waist.  And just beautiful!!   I ordered an Amazon dupe thinking I would save a bunch of money and still have the same quality.  I was wrong.  So glad I finally bit the bullet and bought the original.  As far as sizing goes, I am sometimes a XS in Tuckernuck and sometimes a small.  The XS was tight so I went with the small.  The navy is a dressier fabric and could be worn to a formal event or wedding, but could also be worn to work, dinner or church.  I can’t say enough good things about this dress!!! It will definitely become one of your wardrobe essentials.

Black Watch Plaid Selena Blouse

This is another classic blouse that Tuckernuck makes every year.  It is so pretty with beautiful feminine details.  I love the ruffle, puffed sleeve, high neck with a little ruffle and at the pretty covered buttons.  I purchased my regular size small and it fits perfectly.  The blouse would look great with jeans, black or navy pants or a long skirt.  It can be dressed up for a holiday party or worn with jeans for a fun GNO or lunch.

Red Lady Jacket

How beautiful is this red sweater lady jacket!?   It is the most beautiful red with blue undertones. It’s a perfect weight and fits nicely. Sometimes with J.Crew, I wear my regular size small and sometimes I have to go down a size. With this jacket, I went with the small and it fits perfectly. It is a cropped length, but not too cropped. I love pairing it with a simple Fitted tank top or t-shirt and as it gets colder I’ll wear it with a fitted turtleneck underneath.

Navy and White Stripe Lady Jacket

Here is another beautiful lady jacket, but this time in a white and navy stripe. For size reference, I did go with an extra small as I wanted it to be a little bit more fitted. The brass buttons are gorgeous and I feel like this is something you can dress up or down. Here you see I’ve paired it with these fun, trouser jeans, also from J.Crew. It would look fantastic with a fun red or green trousers or navy pants.

Favorite Sailor Trouser Jean

These jeans from J.Crew are practically perfect! They are super flattering and fun. The gold buttons make them unique and a little dressier than a regular trouser jean. I have a smaller waist and larger thighs for my size, and these fit me perfectly. They are a little long, but I like wearing them with a wedge sandal or booties. I wrote about another of my favorite jean styles here.

I’m wearing the jeans with the cutest blouses! The green and white, as well as the blue and white block print are from Rena Lina. It is a new business started by a young mom who loves classic design. Check out her website here! The white blouse is one my daughter and I both love so we both got one! It is so pretty and looks great with jeans, but would look great with pants or a skirt for work.

What are your favorite places to shop for traditional clothing? You really can’t go wrong with J.Crew and Tuckernuck! I just ordered another pretty red dress from Tuckernuck I plan on wearing to my husband’s work Christmas party. I know it will be a favorite in my wardrobe. I also love Quince and plan to do a post on some of my Quince favorites in the next few weeks.

Grateful for you,

Julie
