How to Make Easy Marbled Ornaments

These easy marbled ornaments are so fun to make and are perfect for a kids craft, girls night or when you just want to get your creative juices flowing!  They only require a few supplies and start to finish only take a few minutes. I used my blue and green ornaments on a pretty table I created for a bible study dinner. You can see it linked here. Let me show you how to make them!

The Most Creative Person I Know

My friend Rebecca is the most creative person I know!  When her girls were little she made the most gorgeous felt flower barrettes and she used that skill to make the “shade” for the light in her craft room. She sews, crochets, has the prettiest penmanship and makes everything more beautiful!!!  So, when Rebecca showed me how to make marbled ornaments, I knew I wanted to share with you!

Marbled Ornament Supplies

–Plastic ornaments. You could also use glass, but I prefer plastic as they are more durable and won’t break.

–Acrylic paint. I bought a set of 24 acrylic paints and they worked really well. You can also find acrylic paint at any craft store.

–Ribbon. This is not necessary, but I think it adds a fun element to your ornament and tree. 

How to Make Marbled Ornaments

You won’t believe how easy these are to make! 

-Start by taking the metal top off of the ornament.  This allows you to add the paint on the inside of the ornament to get the marbled effect. 

-Pick 2-3 paint colors you want to use per ornament. I used blues and greens and Rebecca chose a fun rainbow of colors. 

-Next you’ll add a few drops of paint a little bit at a time. Just squirt about three drops of paint right into the hole on top and whirl it around a little bit. 

-Then add another color to a different part of the ornament, again squirting it into the hole. 

-Add your third color if using three different shades in a part of the ornament that doesn’t already have paint covering it. 

-Turn the ornament upside down and gently shake it until the inside of the ornament is mostly filled with paint. It will create a beautiful marbled effect.  Hang your ornament to dry.  As long as you don’t use too much paint, they should dry pretty quickly. 

Where to use Marbled Ornaments 

Marble ornaments look fantastic on a Christmas tree, but can be used in so many other ways.  They look great on a garland, tablescape, as a bowl filler or wherever you want to add a little fun and color!  They would be a fun addition to party decor and don’t have to be used at Christmas.

These easy marbled ornaments also make great gifts. They would be an inexpensive present for a teacher, neighbor, grandparent, or friend.
